The 2016 Charity Fundraiser

St. Ignatius Nursing & Rehab Center’s 2016 annual fundraiser, held on
April 22, was a fun and successful event, raising over $110,000.  The movie night themed evening started out with guests greeted by two 9 foot tall Oscar statues, the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, the Godfather, Elsa from Frozen, Mary Poppins and paparazzi as they walked the red carpet.  Moving into the reception, they enjoyed stations of food with themes from Field of Dreams, China Town and The Godfather. Soon Elvis Presley arrived singing classic songs from the movies, Viva Las Vegas and Jailhouse Rock.  Guests then moved to the theater to enjoy The Summer Club and a 17 piece orchestra, playing Songs from the Silver Screen.  Local Walnut Street theater star Jeff Coon, along with JP Dunphy, Ben Michael, Steve Cofield, and Rachel Brennan sang songs from the movies such as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Pennies from Heaven," and "Aladdin." Comedian Tony Braithwaite hosted and entertained the audience during breaks.  After the show, guests were once again treated to an after party of desserts, drinks and dancing to Motown hits sung by Steve Cofield and Sweet.
